A cultural event in Kotturpuram takes the stage this evening, and the combination is unusual. UV's Sangeetha Mummoorthigal runs at Abirami Chidambaram Community Hall on September 11, 2026, from 6:45 PM. Kotturpuram Cultural Association presents the programme. Moreover, Bombay Jayashri Ramnath handles the music. Therefore, the evening pairs serious drama with a leading Carnatic voice. Cultural Event in Kotturpuram: Full Details Programme: Mini Cultural Event — UV's Sangeetha Mummoorthigal Date: Friday, September 11, 2026 Time: 6:45 PM Venue: Abirami Chidambaram Community Hall, No. 1, 3A, River View Road, Kotturpuram, Chennai 600085 Landmark: Near Varasiddhi Vinayagar Temple Organiser: Kotturpuram Cultural Association Tickets: Few available at the venue Contact: 044 2447 0084 Event Type: Drama The Team Behind the Production Three names shape this evening. T. V. Varadarajan. He handles dialogues, screenplay and direction, and also appears on stage. C. V. Chandra Mohan. He performs as a drama artiste. Bombay Jayashri Ramnath. She serves as music composer for the production. Consequently, this cultural event in Kotturpuram draws on both theatre and music expertise at a high level. What Sangeetha Mummoorthigal Refers To Sangeetha Mummoorthigal means the musical trinity. The term refers to Tyagaraja, Muthuswami Dikshitar and Syama Sastri. These three composers shaped Carnatic music into the form we know today. Remarkably, all three lived in and around Thiruvarur during roughly the same period. Furthermore, each brought a distinct approach — Tyagaraja's devotional accessibility, Dikshitar's dense Sanskrit scholarship, and Syama Sastri's rhythmic complexity. Because the subject is so rich, a dramatic treatment can explore their lives, their compositions and their era together. In fact, that narrative approach often reaches audiences that a straight concert would not. Why Drama and Music Work Together Here A standard concert presents the compositions. A drama presents the people who wrote them. Consequently, you get context that listening alone rarely provides. Understanding a composer's circumstances changes how their work lands afterwards. Additionally, having Bombay Jayashri compose the music raises the stakes considerably. Her voice and musical judgement are widely respected across Carnatic audiences. So a cultural event in Kotturpuram with her involvement is worth attending on that basis alone. About the Venue Abirami Chidambaram Community Hall sits on River View Road in Kotturpuram, near the Varasiddhi Vinayagar Temple. Community halls like this one host neighbourhood cultural programmes through the year. Therefore, the setting feels closer and less formal than a large sabha auditorium — which suits drama particularly well. How to Reach This Cultural Event in Kotturpuram A few tips help: Arrive by 6:30 PM. Only a few tickets remain at the venue, and seating is first come. Use the temple as your landmark. Autos recognise Varasiddhi Vinayagar Temple instantly. Plan your parking. River View Road stays narrow. So park carefully and walk the last stretch. Call ahead. Reach 044 2447 0084 to check ticket availability before you set out. Plan Your Evening in Kotturpuram Kotturpuram sits between Adyar and Guindy, so the area stays well connected. Additionally, the Kotturpuram MRTS station is close by. Finally, keep tracking Chennai drama events with us. Between community programmes like this cultural event in Kotturpuram and the December season, the city's calendar stays full. Final Thoughts , T V Varadarajan
