Successive Hero Films… Suri Increases Salary… How Many Crores for Garudan Film?

Following the massive success of Viduthalai, actor Suri’s Garudan has been released to mixed reviews, and details about Suri’s salary for the film have surfaced.

Directed by Durai Senthil, Garudan, starring Suri in the lead role, hit theaters on May 31. In Tamil cinema history, director Vetrimaaran has a track record of delivering consecutive hits, often with politically charged themes. Vetrimaaran’s storytelling prowess has made him a prominent figure in Tamil cinema.

Suri’s performance in Vetrimaaran’s Viduthalai was widely acclaimed, marking an important milestone in Tamil cinema. In Viduthalai, Suri played a serious role as a policeman named Kumaresan, moving away from his traditional comedic roles.

Suri, who began his career as a supporting actor and stand-up comedian, eventually rose to prominence, even sharing the screen with Superstar Rajinikanth. His role in Viduthalai cemented his status as a lead actor. Bhavani Sri played the female lead, alongside notable actors like Vijay Sethupathi, Chethan, and Gautham Menon.

Following his lead role in Viduthalai, there was speculation about whether Suri would continue as a hero or return to comedy. However, Suri has continued to gain attention as a lead actor with his performance in Durai Senthil’s Garudan.

Released on May 31, Garudan features an ensemble cast including Sasikumar, Unni Mukundan, Revathi Sharma, Shwetha, Roshini Haripriyan, Samuthirakani, Mime Gopi, R.V. Udayakumar, Vadivukkarasi, Dushyant, and Mottai Rajendran. The film’s trailer had already built anticipation, particularly due to a striking line delivered by Suri: “If we go the wrong way for the thing we desire, God or nature will end it in the right way. Because it is hammering Garuda on our head.”

In Garudan, Suri plays the role of Sokan, Karuna’s friend, showcasing his versatility in both action and emotional scenes, reminiscent of his performance in Viduthalai.

During Garudan‘s promotional events, Suri expressed the weight of responsibility that comes with playing lead roles, emphasizing the importance of maintaining the position given to him by Vetrimaaran.

Reports have revealed that Suri received a salary of up to 8 crores for his role in Garudan. This significant pay raise highlights his rising status in the industry. From starting as a supporting actor to becoming a prominent comedian and now a successful hero, Suri’s journey in Tamil cinema continues to stir discussions in Kollywood circles.
