Indian Compound Mixed Team Enters Final of Archery World Cup Stage 2

Yecheon, South Korea, May 24 (PTI) — The Indian compound mixed team, featuring Jyothi Surekha Vennam and Priyansh, has advanced to the final of the Archery World Cup Stage 2, ensuring India’s second medal at the event.

The compound women’s team, composed of Jyothi, Parneet Kaur, and Aditi Swami, had already secured India’s first medal by making it to the final on Wednesday. Additionally, young archer Prathamesh Fuge is aiming for a medal in the individual category, having progressed to the semifinals.

Ranked No. 2 in the world, the Indian compound mixed team delivered a stellar performance, dropping only two points from 16 arrows to edge past South Korea’s Han Seungyeon and Yang Jaewon with a score of 158-157 in a tense semifinal match.

Jyothi and Priyansh are set to face USA’s Olivia Dean and Sawyer Sullivan, in a highly anticipated gold medal match on Saturday, featuring the top two world-ranked nations.

Earlier in the competition, the fourth-seeded Indian duo eliminated Vietnam with a 159-152 victory in the round of 16, missing the target just once out of 16 arrows. They then overcame formidable opposition from fifth-seeded Mexico in a closely contested quarterfinal, winning 156-155.
