Maharaja Trailer: Vijay Sethupathi Shines as an Unconventional Barber; Anurag Kashyap’s Menacing Presence Steals the Show

The highly anticipated trailer for Vijay Sethupathi’s 50th film, “Maharaja,” has finally been released, and fans are ecstatic. Following last year’s announcement and the reveal of Sethupathi’s first look, the makers have now dropped the trailer for the Nithilan Saminathan-directed thriller.

In a gripping 1 minute and 42 seconds, the trailer introduces Sethupathi’s character, Maharaja, an ostensibly ordinary barber who runs a salon in KK Nagar. However, the plot thickens when he reports a theft to the police—someone has stolen ‘Lakshmi’ from his house. Lakshmi, it turns out, is not a person or valuable object but something Maharaja humorously tries to describe through gestures, leaving viewers in splits. Maharaja goes as far as warning the police to find Lakshmi or face unspecified consequences, adding an intriguing layer to the narrative. The film’s release date is still awaited.

While the trailer captivates with its suspenseful and humorous elements, the highlight is undoubtedly the brief but impactful appearance of director Anurag Kashyap as a villain, heightening anticipation.

“Maharaja,” written and directed by Nithilan Saminathan, boasts an impressive cast including Mamta Mohandas, Natty (Natraj), Bharathiraja, Abhirami, Singampuli, and Kalki. The film is produced by Sudhan Sundaram and Jagadish Palanisamy under the banners of Passion Studios and The Route.

The music, composed by B Ajaneesh Loknath, has already garnered attention. Fans are particularly impressed with the background score, with one commenting, “Vera level BGM. I don’t know who this music director is, but he is going to break all records soon. Music is taking the trailer to the next level.”

As anticipation builds, “Maharaja” promises to deliver an exciting blend of humor, suspense, and stellar performances.
